Interest in conflict resolution stems from Nancy life in both the personal and professional realms. On the personal front, Nancy offered support to her husband’s ministry as a pastor over a 17 year career. During this time, conflict in his job often fell over into Nancy’s relationships at church. Those conflicts also affected the relationship between Nancy and her husband as well. Professionally, Nancy saw conflict interfere with her attempts to teach both preschool and elementary children.
The search for a solution led her to a program in conflict resolution at the graduate school level. While learning, Nancy developed skills that transformed her professional and personal life. She worked on a conflict resolution plan for preschool children that would lead to Beyond Classroom Conflict, a curriculum for teachers to use in the classroom and a branch of her company.
A heart for churches comes out of lifelong experiences in churches and Christian communities. Watching conflicts break apart ministries and relationships within Christian organizations motivated Nancy to explore alternatives for churches. Christ prayed in John 17 that his followers would be united. Nancy hopes to offer assistance to organizations that seek this as well.
Current focus is on early childhood students AND on church conflict. While it seems like two different programs, the heart of conflict resolution is often the same.
